All of us who are learning and working in schools need stories to help us make meaning out of the chaos and confusion of the complex times we live in. This book tells the stories of 17 young adults who spent their time and energy serving their fellow students in a powerful program called MacTeach, based in San Antonio, TX.

The program initially started as a way for high-achieving students to serve as tutors for English learners, but it quickly became so much more for everyone involved. Each of the 17 stories recounts the dramatic transformation experienced by the students who were involved in the program and its effect on the communities to which they belonged.
