The ELPS Made Easy: Integrating Small Moves, The ELPS Flip Book and VNG to meet the needs of EBs in EVERY Classroom

This training introduces the updated English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs), which take effect in the fall of 2026. Participants will explore how integrating small moves helps students to talk more, think more, and achieve more in all content area classrooms. Additionally, the Visual Non-Glossary will be featured as a powerful tool that integrates conversation, reading, and writing around academic vocabulary.

Participants will leave this workshop equipped to:

• Understand the key updates to the ELPS and PLDs
• Implement low-to-no prep small moves to accelerate language proficiency
• Support emergent bilingual (EB) students with targeted scaffolds
• Integrate visuals to support students to speak, read, and write using academic vocabulary with a free trial of the VNG
